Undergraduate Research Assistant Alumni

Sarah Hartmann.  Sarah was a member of the RACER Lab during the 2018 - 2019 school year and is currently a doctoral student at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Sarah began a study regarding adolescent substance use among individuals with ADHD, and  successfully defended her thesis entitled "Working Memory, Effortful Control, and Emotion Regulation in Children with ADHD" that aimed to assess  the relation between working memory, effortful control, and emotion regulation in children with ADHD. Sarah found that lowered working memory was associated with emotional lability among children with ADHD, but effortful control was not associated with working memory or emotional lability in this population.
Skyler Van Meter. Skyler was a member of the RACER Lab during the 2018 - 2019 school year and is currently a doctoral student in the school psychology program at the University of Cincinnati. Skyler defended his honors thesis in the spring of 2019, titled "The Role of Antecedent-Focused Emotion Regulatory Strategies on Emotionally Dysregulated Behavior Above and Beyond the Influence of ADHD." In his thesis, Skyler reported that emotional self-awareness and situational responsiveness was significantly related to emotion regulation, such that those with greater self-awareness and situational responsiveness demonstrated better emotion regulation.
